One of the key principles behind planning poker is to prevent anchoring. In Smart Guess, this is the key principle held in place:

You only see other team-member estimates when you have first selected your own.

How does Smart Guess ensure you don't see other team members' cards without

first

selecting your own?

Let's take an example to see this in action

1. User opens a story where three team members have given an estimate

Here is what the users will see:

  • Team members avatars who have joined 'Team planning'

  • All of them Avatars show a green checkmark, indicating they have selected an estimate (green checkmark)

  • The user who has not given an estimate can only see his own their card deck

The user who has not given an estimate

Only sees his/her own their cards:

Users who have already given an estimate

Only see their own cards:

2. When the user joins 'Team planning' - this is what happens:

  • In real-time, shared with all users

    • The user's avatar is added appears and 'does the dancewiggles' - to show team members showing who joined the session

  • Other team-member estimates are not visible
